Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant @ Prima Tanjung, Penang

Henry Tan | 11:15 PM | | 1 Comment so far
Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant, another one after Shunka (read here) that we went! As you may guess, we found it through the wonder Google too. Tokkuri Hana located at Prima Tanjung Business Centre, which is quite far away from our house, but thankfully we were being told that they will have one Tokkuri Tei in Ayer Itam too.

Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant - Entrance with a lot of chochin (lantern)
Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant located at ground floor facing inside, so it is quite obvious to see once you drive around Prima Tanjung Business Centre. Parking was okay as you can park it anywhere along the road, just make sure you put up the parking coupon.

Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant - Looks spacious for Japanese Restaurant
We went on a weekday which was around 6.30pm so there were not many people, but we were being greeted warmly and shown to our seats immediately. They are very thoughtful as we were being told to sit further inside as the seating under the air cond could be very cold as there were not many people yet. And you know, to me, customer experience is almost everything, so great impression right away!

Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant - Very cute floral decorated utensils
Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant - Shake Aburi Mentai Roll (RM26)
Since it was just the two of us, we could only ordered 2 dishes. And as usual, we started with the Shake Aburi  Mentai Roll, whereby the baked salmon rolled with tuna cucumber and served with Cod fish roe sauce. I supposed the Cod fish roe is the one that makes it expensive. But the portion was quite big even just for the two of us. (Thankfully they advised us beforehand so that we did not "over-order") What I like about Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant's Mentai Roll was the roll was grilled with flame gun and hence the appetizing smell from the Mentai.

Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant - Tokkuri Hana Bento Set (RM58)
We ordered another specialty of theirs, namely Tokkuri Hana Bento Set which the photo was widely spread across all social medias and newspapers. So of course we would try it as well since it is the chef special bento set which consists of salmon, oyster, unagi, tako, tempura, miso soup and cawanmushi. Again, another huge portion that we ended up feeling so full after the meal. Most noteworthy among all were the crispy tempura, the fresh succulent oyster as well as the ever-tempting unagi

Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant - Must-take-top-down-photo
Given the location,we have already expected the higher price, relatively, so once in a while indulged into such a meal would still be acceptable in the dictionary of #YourFinanceDoctor. (LIKE US HERE!) During our dinner there, we saw a few Japanese there enjoying their meals too, so I supposed Tokkuri Hana Japanese Restaurant is up to the standard even for Japanese. So you should really give it a try too!

Shunka Japanese Restaurant @ Jalan Burma, Penang

Henry Tan | 11:27 PM | | Be the first to comment!
If you are a loyal reader of IBlogMyWay, you would know by now that Japanese food is HER favorite. So of course Shunka Japanese Restaurant (旬香) will be one of those to try out! To be honest, sometime I'm kinda ran out of idea on where to go for new yet reasonable Japanese Restaurant. (If you got any recommendation, please comment below! ARIGATO!)

Shunka Japanese Restaurant is located along Jalan Burma, few doors before Giant or Penang Plaza. Getting a car park there can be a nightmare during peak hour as there are only 2 designated car park right in front of their shop. Thankfully, I was lucky, as always, we got the carpark right in front of it during our dinner there! You can consider to park at Penang Plaza and walk over too.

Shunka Japanese Restaurant - Curry Chicken Set (RM21.90)
Out of so many dishes in the menu of Shunka Japanese Restaurant, we tried their Curry Chicken Set. As per expected, thick curry sauce, not spicy and sweet, which is how a Japanese curry should be. Overall it was appetizing and it's always good to go with the rice! And certainly it reminds me of the Japanese curry that I had back in Japan!

Shunka Japanese Restaurant - Spicy Salmon Bowl Rice (RM17.90)
We also tried their Spicy Salmon Bowl Rice as baby is a big fan of salmon. If I am not mistaken, they sprinkled the Japanese 7 Spice Blend, or also known as Shichimi, on top of the deep fried salmon to make it tasty and spicy. Given the price paid, I would say Shunka Japanese Restaurant was really generous to give a big portion of salmon. And again, it reminds me of the Japan trip where we carried a small bottle of Shichimi around to sprinkle on top of whatever food we eat. LOL

Shunka Japanese Restaurant - Mentaiyaki Baked Salmon Roll (RM18.90)
If there's any roll that we will order in any Japanese Restaurant, it has to be Mentaiyaki Baked Salmon Roll, hands down. First and foremost, it's salmon, then the mouth watering Mentaiyaki sauce! I like it a lot as it was really special given that the outer layer of the rolls was crispy. Imagine the different textures in one bite! Oh HEAVEN!

If you are a Japanese food lover like us, then you should really try it out at Shunka Japanese Restaurant especially during lunch time as they are having lunch promotion! Do check it out at their Facebook too.

Recipes: Ambarella/Ambra Smoothie

Henry Tan | 11:04 AM | Be the first to comment!
Ambarella juice, or more commonly known as Ambra or Kedondong juice, is a common drink to order in Malaysia especially given its ability to stimulate one's appetite. I used to eat it too with some sprinkle of salt all over it to balance the sourish taste. Thanks to my uncle and aunty, we were given a bag of fresh ambarella recently. Instead of eating it or juicing it directly, I made it into Ambarella Smoothie with the new blender.

Ambarella/Ambra Smoothie Recipes:
Serving for 2

12 pcs - Ambarella (Scrubbed and sliced)
300ml - Water
4 tbsp - White sugar
12 pcs - Ice cube
3 pcs - Dried sour plum

Instructions:
1. Wash and scrub each Ambarella with salt thoroughly to remove the stains on the skin.
2. Blend Ambarella with water, white sugar, ice cubes and 1 pcs dried sour plum.
3. Pour into 2 glasses.
4. Add 1 dried sour plum into each glasses.
5. Ready to serve!

Ambarella/Ambra Smoothie - Ambarella need scrubbing too!

You will be surprised how shinning clean it could be after scrubbing with salt. FYI, I used a new dish-washing scrub sponge to scrub the Ambarella and trust me, it is hell lot of effort! I know most of the recipes would call for a skin peeled, but by doing this way, we could fully appreciate the hard work of planting!

Ambarella/Ambra Smoothie - Ready to blend!
Then again, most of the recipes would call for sieving, but for my personal preference, I go with the fiber which could help with our digestive system. Just make sure you blend it just enough to break it down to tiny bits without overheating the blender and destroying some of the heat-sensitive nutrients such as pantothenic acid and vitamin C.

After a quick check in Google (actually I was trying to find what's the correct spelling of "Ambarella"), I found that Ambarella was quickly gaining popularity especially given that the recent studies proven Ambarella is one of the richest known sources of Vitamin C containing about 30 times that in oranges! So here's a quick list of the benefits.

Benefits of Ambarella:
1. Vitamin C - 30 times of oranges
- boosts the immune system
- accelerates the wound healing process
- helps in tissue repair
- acting as natural anti-oxidant to nourishes the skin

2. High content of dietary fiber
- facilitates digestion and helps clear the bowel

3. High level of Vitamin A
-  helps distribute images that are received by the retina of the eye

4. High level of Iron
- help the body produce red blood cells to avoid anemia

5. High in sucrose
- provides instant energy and boost vitality and endurance

Well given all the benefits mentioned above, surely it is a good reason to drink it more often! Just hope that with the demand increases, the price does not goes skyrocketing.

Weekend Getaway – Cameron Highland 2D1N Trip (our cuti-cuti Malaysia)

Unknown | 4:02 PM | 2 Comments so far
Due to the continuous Malaysian Ringgit slide, we have learned to appreciate the beauty of Malaysia. This time, my cuti-cuti Malaysia gang had our getaway trip to Cameron Highland! (P/S: We were trying to escape from the haze attack at that time.) This was my second time there; my first time was more than a decade ago. Cameron Highland has become so much fun as compared to last time; more places to go, more things to shop and more food to eat now.

It is always very crowded during the peak seasons, so try to avoid that! With the help of Waze, the route to Cameron Highland isn’t hard to a skilled driver (yaya, my prettiest Mushroom), it took us around 3 hours from Penang.

Getaway to Cameron Highland

Day 1

11 am: Green View Garden

We reached Cameron Highland at 11am for our breakfast and indulged ourselves in the colourful Green View Garden...

5 pm: Brinchang night market
Location: Cameron Highland, 39000 Brinchang, Pahang, Malaysia

I didn't get to take any picture at Brinchang Night Market as my hands were full of food XD
Cold weather in Cameron Highland makes me so enjoying shopping at the night market, ahh.. how I wish I have this kind of weather in Penang.

Day 2

11 am: Boh Tea Farm

After the thrilling drive up to the Boh Tea Farm, you will need to have a little walk up to the Boh Tea Farm cafe, but it's definitely a worthwhile walk for the beautiful place and nice afternoon tea! oh yea, it also took some times for us to queue for ordering our food, but still it's fine to me as I was so impressed by their Cotton "Boh" Tea Cheese Cake (RM 9), it was so delicious!

Anlene Move Young Campaign Launch @ Queensbay Mall, Penang

Henry Tan | 9:43 PM | | | Be the first to comment!
In conjunction with the introduction of the new Anlene with MoveMax, dairy giant Fonterra Brands Malaysia launched an experiential showcase at Queensbay Mall Penang to get Malaysians to move as young as they feel inside! If you are interested to check how well you can move, head down to the showcase and get your mobility checked at the MoveCheck booth!

Move As Young As You Feel Inside!
31st August - 4th September 2016
Queensbay Mall Penang

The launch started with the introduction speech by marketing manager of Fonterra Brands Malaysia, Mr. Paulo Ocampo. Well basically, the new Anlene MoveMax formulation contains Calcium for bones, Collagen for joints, protein for muscles, as well as other important nutrients that help with the musculoskeletal health such as magnesium, zinc and all the other essential vitamins.

Then we move on to try out the mobility test at MoveCheck booth. I supposed the first test is the osteoporotic fracture risk assessment using the ultrasonometers. Basically the result would tell if your bone is at risk of osteoporosis or not according to your age. Not to worry, the staff there will spray some alcohol antiseptic spray at your foot to make sure it is hygiene. I got good result but probably because I am still young, but calcium intake will be a must to maintain!

The next one is the movement test whereby you will be tested on a series of different movement. The first one is the flexibility of your arms whereby you will need to stretch and see if you could reach out to the other hand. Well, I managed to get my fingers crossing each other to about 3cm! But that's when my right hand is on top! I could not reach at all when changing to left hand on top! Conclusion? My left hand is not as flexible as my right hand! Need more exercise for left hand! LOL!

Once all the tests are done then you can proceed to the consultation counter whereby they will explain one by one of your result. Overall mine was quite good, but it serves as a reminder to exercise regularly as well as the intake of all the important nutrients that our body needed. As usual, they recommend to drink the new Anlene with MoveMax formulation 2 times a day and they are selling at a promotion price!

Then continue with the official launch of Anlene "Move as Young as You Feel" with a live demonstration of Zumba Dance by Chi Fitness. After the performance, then we have the photo session of all the VIPs as well as the Anlene product.

After the official launch, then we continue with the game challenge! In order to win some free gift, there are a total of 3 game challenges that you need to fulfill on top of getting your MoveCheck result. I tried all of them and seriously these games are challenging my flexibility, agility and mobility. You should try them out too!

Well lucky me, I am one of the prize winner! Thanks to Anlene, now I have a blender to make myself smoothie! Probably can make myself Anlene Chocolate with banana smoothie! What do you think? :D

Well, that's it! 3 more days left! If you miss out on this campaign, Anlene MoveMax is available in all leading supermarkets nationwide and is available in the powdered form as well as in the yoghurt form. The powdered form comes in two flavors - plain and chocolate and is available in 1kg, 600g and 175g packs. Anlene MoveMax Yoghurt is available in 4 delicious variants: plain, mango, strawberry and mixed berries.

Grab your chance to test out your mobility!
